Hi! I'm a Italian reader who like to read about Italy from a different view. I enjoy read this site, so I hope that my note will help for a complete view of Italy.

Italy is NOT the Catholic HQ; Vatican is in the Vatican State, which isn't even the only enclave here by the way. Being Italian and Catholic I considered this a great achievement both for my Country, which is now secular, then for my religion, which is now free from the threatens of secularism. Often abroad the two State, and the two system, are sees like overlapping.
Most of the football match are on Sunday because it was the only day when nobody worked. Now the "weekend" is spread on Saturday and Sunday.

I like how you weren't impressed by our Italian drama about football! I always wondered if foreign, seeing the fuss that we do for every little things, think that the government is going to crash, the martial law being on its way, the society disrupting and the population go wild. Seems like no! :-)

Hi Martina, thanks for your comment! It's great to get the Italian perspective :)

I think most foreigners thinking about a visit to Italy aren't as focused on the negatives you mention in the last paragraph of your comment because Italy has such fantastic scenery, art, architecture, food, wine, history, and of course people!
